About the role
The Volunteer Fundraiser and Grant Writer will play an essential role in supporting the fundraising efforts of the Office of Displaced Designers [ODD] to fulfill its mission to provide support to displaced and marginalised communities. This individual will be responsible for researching and identifying potential funding opportunities, developing grant proposals, and assisting with other fundraising initiatives to secure financial support for our programs and projects. Key Responsibilities:
Research and Identify Funding Opportunities:
Research to identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other sources.
Maintain a comprehensive database of potential funders, including their funding priorities, application deadlines, and requirements.
Liaise with core team members to assess the opportunities and prioritise.
Support the development of best practice policies related to ODD’s fundraising activities.
Grant Proposal Development:
Write clear, compelling, and well-researched grant proposals tailored to the specific requirements of each funding opportunity.
Collaborate with the program team to gather relevant information and data for grant proposals.
Ensure that all grant proposals are submitted on time and meet the highest quality standards.
Relationship Building:
Facilitate the cultivation and maintenance of relationships with potential funders, including foundation representatives, program officers, and other stakeholders.
Communicate effectively with funders to understand their priorities and requirements, and to provide updates on our programs and projects.
Fundraising Campaign Support:
Assist in the development and implementation of fundraising campaigns, including crowdfunding campaigns, online fundraisers, and donor outreach initiatives.
Collaborate with the team to create fundraising materials, such as appeal letters, brochures, and social media posts.
Reporting and Evaluation:
Work closely with the Volunteer Project Coordinator and Core Team to collect data and information for grant reports and evaluations.
Ensure that all reporting requirements are met accurately and on time.
About You:
Passionate about social justice, human rights, and supporting displaced and marginalised communities.
Excellent research skills, with the ability to identify funding opportunities and gather relevant information.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to write clear, compelling, and persuasive grant proposals.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment.
Previous experience in grant writing, fundraising, or related fields is highly desirable.
Knowledge of fundraising best practices and strategies, particularly in the non-profit sector desirable but not essential.
